Open and Trusting Grant making
The Bishop Radford Trust has signed up to IVARS 8 commitments to make funder practice more open and trusting. IVAR hold regular meetings for people to reflect on and develop their practice and is working on a way for charities to hold open and trusting Grantmakers to account.
The approach is formed of eight commitments that were designed in partnership with charities and funders. They are deliberately flexible so that funders can bring them to life no matter their context or constraints.
We also aim to keep in touch with charities to keep up to date with what is most important in terms of their funding experience.
The 8 commitments are:
- 1. Don’t waste time
- 2. Ask relevant questions
- 3. Accept risk
- 4. Act with urgency
- 5. Be open
- 6. Enable flexibility
- 7. Communicate with purpose
- 8. Be proportionate
