Dr. Ruth Dare
Ruth lives in Sussex with her husband Tom, 4 children and a bouncy spaniel. She enjoys runs and walks in the countryside with friends and spending time with friends and family. She initially studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Oxford in 1995 before changing track to study Medicine after some overseas experience working for CMS in Nepal. She studied at Kings in London before moving her training to Brighton in 2007 after her first son was born. She started GP training in 2009 and now works as a GP partner in Peacehaven. She has always enjoyed general practice and the variety it brings, particularly supporting whole families in the community. She also has an interest in palliative care having previously worked at a local hospice and supported the out of hours rota. She is committed to her local church and also enjoys supporting Tom as he starts a curacy at a church in Crawley. She has been involved in children’s work at church and enjoys helping with the community study groups. She has been a trustee of the BRT since its inception in ….She loves being part of the British Radford Trust and supporting its work.
Rev. Douglas Hamilton
Douglas Hamilton is currently serving as the Church of Scotland minister for the Parish of Traprain in East Lothian. He is also Vice Convenor of the board of CrossReach. His previous career was mainly in the voluntary sector, working with organisations such as Save the Children and the RS Macdonald Charitable Trust. Douglas has also served in various advisory roles for the government, including as Chair of the Poverty and Inequality Commission in Scotland.
Lady Jay Green
Jay is a Nurse and Midwife and she and later trained as a counsellor. She met Stephen whilst training at St Thomas’ Hospital in London in 1970. When they moved to Hong Kong nursing was problematic because of language and young children. Instead she set up and ran what became the St John’s Cathedral Bookshop. It continues to this day and is a successful shop and community hub. Back in London in 1993 she was involved with business development at Church House Bookshop in Westminster and also travelled widely with Stephen. In 2006, she set up the Bishop Radford Trust and developed grantee partnerships with several key organisations, providing them with both financial and advisory support. She was a Trustee of The Bible Reading Fellowship for 13 years and continues to be involved with the BRF Ministries. She is also a trustee of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Anglican Communion Fund especially involved with clergy medical emergencies. Jay and Stephen live mainly in London in their spare time they enjoy time with the family, travel, walking, music and the arts.
Lord Stephen Green
Stephen studied PPE at Oxford University and after a post University gap year working in a hostel for alcoholics in London he started his career with the British Government’s overseas development department. He met and married Jay during his gap year and in 1973 they moved to Boston where he had a scholarship to do a Master’s Degree in Political Science at MIT. In 1977 he joined the Management Consultants McKinsey, and in 1982 he accepted a role in the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank, which took him and the family to Hong Kong for 11 years. During this time, he also completed his Church of England ordination training by correspondence from the Northern Ordination Course based in Manchester. In 1993 they moved back to the UK with HSBC, where he later became CEO and then Chairman. In 2010 he was created a Life Peer and was appointed Minister of State for Trade and Investment in the Coalition Government. He retired in December 2013. He was then appointed Chairman of the Natural History Museum, a post he held for 9 years. He is also Chairman of Asia House and Honorary President of the Chartered Institute of International Trade. He has held other positions including being Vice Chair of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Anglican Communion Fund. He has written and published widely on culture, identity and geopolitics.
Suzannah O’Brien
Suzannah is Managing Director and Trustee of The Bishop Radford Trust, a position she has held since April 2018. Alongside this, she is currently a Trustee of the Strategic Mission and Ministry Investment Board (SMMIB) for the Church of England, Trustee of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Anglican Communion Fund and Chair of the Christian Funders Forum. She started out her career in Consumer Brand Management working for Gillette, Coca Cola and later as a Marketing and Fundraising Consultant in the charity sector with Tearfund and World Vision. Living abroad in Houston, Holland and Singapore with a young family, she volunteered with local charities to get immersed in the community. She has one husband, three children and two dogs and she lives in Richmond, Kew. She is passionate about eco work, and is a weekly volunteer at The Real Junk Food Project.
